Orlistat®
Daily oral pill
Ozempic (generic name: Semaglutide) is a GLP-1 agonist FDA approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Orlistat (brand name: Xenical or Alli) is FDA approved for the management of obesity.
How does
Orlistat®
work:
- prevents the absorption of about 25% of dietary fat by inhibiting lipase (an enzyme that breaks down fat)

- oily stools
- diarrhea
- spotting in stool
- stomach (abdominal) pain
- anal fissures

Do not take
Orlistat®
if you:
- have chronic malabsorption
- are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding
- have cholestasis
- have anorexia and bulimia
- have a history of severe renal impairment
- are allergic to orlistat or any of its ingredients
